LSCI has its library, seen as an academic asset, which is catered to the needs of professional education and is always upgraded in terms of resources so as to keep it up-to-date. Arrangements are in place to run this facility smoothly, and ensuring also that it is networked with the required computation facilities.

IT Centre/ Computer Lab

LSCI has also an interlinked but a separate space for ICT, an IT Centre/Computer lab, which is supported by a system administrator and other support staff. The lab is fully networked for printing, email and Internet connections and has also photocopying facilities.

Private Study Areas/Student Services

One facility students sometimes may prefer is to relax, while not being quite away from the course load preoccupying the mind. Precisely keeping such a concern in mind LSCI has created facilities in its premise for services to the students which might enable them to relax over a cup of tea, speak to a staff over matters of urgent concern, share pressing issues with a fellow student and/or browse the Internet while sharing ideas with a friend. Some PCs are placed in the student services for such purposes.

LSCI always treats the career of its students with utmost priority and advises the students the best possible academic route to their desired professional career. The LSCI students are guided by the School establishment, the concerned tutor, professionals. Published materials from different professional bodies are also provided. The School Registry is on hand to help students with timetable issues, book counselling sessions with academic staff or administrative staff, including the LSCI Principal, and discuss all issues relating to studying and/or personal concern whilst at the School. All members of the Registry are fully trained and are aware of our student’s needs.

Making the Difference - Study Support

Study Skills: New environments, new ways of teaching and such other related issues of studying new subjects at a higher level can often be daunting for international students. To assist them LSCI conducts exam technique classes, which enable the students to practice on past papers, view previous answers and discuss with tutors the different ways of approaching exams. To assist students further the School also runs Revision Sessions to give students extra tuition on specific subjects to refresh their memories before the exams. Report writing and research skills are areas also covered in the skills sessions. These sessions are very informal and students find them of immense value as it gives them the opportunity to explore the diversity of approaches in their subject areas and making progress without any unexpected pressure.

Personal Tutors: SCI has a provision to assign every student a tutor. This is meant to enable the students to have a qualified academic with whom they can discuss any problem regarding their course, consider possible changes in options or seek advice on their professional career.
